Konus shows the perspective of someone battling Keratoconus, an eye condition that distorts vision, making things appear twice and blurred together. Tasks like reading, managing lighting, and recognising distant shapes becomes pretty difficult as lines of text, street lights, and details overlap with one another. I’ve heard the condition affects only about 0.2% of the population.
Keratoconus tends to affect my vision more and more as the day goes on, turning painting or sketching at night into a lamp-adjusting, squint-requiring task. During a study on hand poses and folds, I decided to capture my unique perspective on things around me to acknowledge the fact that not everyone sees things the same or even with the same ease of vision.
